Choose, then explain your answer

QUESTION 1 / 5

Which hand has the higher category?

Choose a hand, then open the explanation.

Read the explanation

Answer: B. B is a trail; A is a pure sequence. Category comes before the individual card ranks.

QUESTION 2 / 5

Which pair hand ranks higher?

Choose a hand, then open the explanation.

Read the explanation

Answer: B. Compare the pair first. Nines outrank eights; the ace does not overturn the pair comparison.

QUESTION 3 / 5

Which colour hand ranks higher?

Choose a hand, then open the explanation.

Read the explanation

Answer: A. The aces tie. Compare the second rank: queen outranks jack.

QUESTION 4 / 5

Under the A-2-3-first convention, which normal sequence comes first?

Choose a hand, then open the explanation.

Read the explanation

Answer: B. This question explicitly puts A-2-3 first. A different ace convention would change this comparison.

QUESTION 5 / 5

Which hand is a pure sequence?

Choose a hand, then open the explanation.

Read the explanation

Answer: A. A is consecutive and shares one suit. B is a normal sequence.

02

A repeatable comparison method

  1. Name the category. Check matching ranks, consecutive ranks and shared suits.
  2. Compare within the category. For pairs, the pair comes before the spare card. For colour or high card, compare from the highest rank down.
  3. State the rule. Ace ordering and special-mode rules should be explicit before a disputed comparison.

What this practice does

These are authored, fixed learning examples. The page does not deal random hands, track a score, connect to a game, predict an outcome or use money. Answers remain in the page so that you can review the reasoning even when scripts are disabled.
