Start in the browser’s Downloads list
A download can be paused, cancelled, blocked or completed. Read the browser’s status before opening Files or starting another transfer. If there are several copies, identify which source and attempt each filename belongs to.
If a transfer is still running, wait for the completion status before opening it. A temporary or partial file does not become a finished APK because it has an app-like name.
When a transfer stops
- Keep the message. Note whether it mentions connection, storage, access or a blocked download. These are different problems.
- Check normal access. Confirm that the phone has a stable connection and that the browser can load ordinary pages. Check storage if the message points there.
- Retry deliberately. Use the intended download link after addressing the cause. Repeated taps can create duplicate attempts rather than repairing the first one.
When the browser says “completed”
Use the completed item in the Downloads list to locate the file. On many phones, Files also has a Downloads folder, but the app and folder labels vary. Check the full extension; APK and archive formats have different installation paths.
When to move to installation help
Once you have a completed file and Android’s installer shows a message, switch to installation troubleshooting. If the app installs but closes, include the installed version and phone details in a support note.
